STATE HISTORICAL SOCIETY DIRECTOR TO VISIT NMU

MARQUETTE - The Central Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan University Archives will host a reception honoring Larry Wagenaar, the newly appointed executive director of the Historical Society of Michigan.

The reception is free and open to the public. It will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at the NMU archives in room 114 of the Learning Resource Center.

Wagenaar was named executive director in September. He previously served as director of the Joint Archives of Holland, Mich., at Hope College.

The Historical Society of Michigan is a non-profit organization whose goals include the following: foster an understanding of and appreciation for all state history through programs and publications; encourage citizens to collect, preserve, interpret and publish Michigan history; further the program of local historical societies; cooperate with individuals and organizations on projects that will promote and sustain interest in history; and enhance public support for the preservation and protection of Michigan history.
