NMU BRASS ENSEMBLES TO PERFORM AT PUBLIC LIBRARY

MARQUETTE - The Northern Michigan University brass ensembles will perform for the Peter White Public Library Chamber Series at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31.

The NW Brass Quintet program will include the following works: Quintet, Op. 5 by Victor Ewald; Scherzo by John Cheetham; Jazz Etude by Donald Haddad; and Washington Post March by Sousa. Lighter numbers, in the style of the Canadian Brass, include: Get Me to the Church on Time from My Fair Lady by Lemer/Loewe; Toreador Song from Carmen by Bizet; and Amazing Grace, a traditional arrangement by Luther Henderson.

The quintet is composed of the following NNFU students: Katy Essex of Marcellus on trumpet; Craig Recla of Kingsford on trumpet; Brandon Nelson of Ishpeming on horn; Gordon Erickson of Kingsford on trombone; and Jeremiah Clark of Sault Ste. Marie on tuba. Recia, Nelson and Clark will perform solos.

NNFU students Ben Mayer and Leah Anzicek will combine talents for a euphonium duet. Thaddea Schopieray is the accompanist for the solo numbers.
