MARQUETTE - Northern Michigan University's Performing Arts Series will host the Wellspring Dance Company on Saturday, Jan. 26. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. at Kaufman Auditorium.Wellspring is a professional company based in Kalamazoo. It is comprised of six members who perform works choreographed by members of the group and by guest artists. Highlights include critically acclaimed performances with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Fontana Concert and Cavani String Quartet. The company has also done exchange concerts and workshops with XSIGHT! from Chicago, Susan Van Pelt from the University of Ohio, the Detroit Dance Collective, the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble and Chicago's Emergence Dance Theater. In 1997, Wellspring was the subject of an hour-long PBS Documentary, "The Birth of Dance." Advance tickets are $6 for students, $13 for NMU faculty and staff, and $14 for the general public.
