SPANISH
FIELD DAY
You and your
"advanced" students are invited to
Activities will include a visit to Espaņolandia (our Spanish-speaking country) and several competitions. As always, for crowd and maturity control, attendance is limited to students in their second, third, fourth or fifth year of Spanish. Please commit your students to act responsibly and to stay involved in the field day actividades.
We will hold
"Language Bowl, Singing, Show and Tell, and Skit" competitions this
year. Please read the instructions for the competitions very carefully -- some have changed! We are requiring "Entry Forms" for each competition this year. Students must bring the entry forms to their event to be able to participate. Links to instructions are found below and links to the entry forms are in the instructions. Please write legibly! An awards assembly will culminate
the day. For your convenience, you may want to consider eating at the
"Wildcat Den" located in the
Nearly 500 students
attended last year. We need to know how many
students will come this year so we can make adequate arrangements. We also need to know how many teams will participate in each competion (names are not necessary at this point), so please return the
Reply Form (see below) with corresponding lists to me by Monday, March 31. All students will visit Espaņolandia,
and they should all participate in at least one of the competitions. If you have questions or comments, call:
(906) 227-1107 or e-mail me (
Please be aware that this event does cost NMU money to host. We re very grateful to the College of Arts and Sciences for providing the lion's share of the funding.
Your responsibilities:
1. Return the survey promptly.
2. Arrange for transportation to/from the university.
3. Have your students start preparing for the competitions.
4. Expect further word from us.
As always, I look forward to seeing you and your students.
Sincerely,
Tim Compton, Professor
Perpetual Dictator, Espanolaņdia
