The Language Lab has undergone major renovations to integrate
computer-based technology into its tutorial and classroom services. The Lab
now offers 30 laptop connections, a high-end desktop, webcams, a library
of software in all languages served, and authoring software for the creation
of individualized multimedia programs (Toolbook). Audiotapes, CD ROMs, and
films in the target languages are available for group or personal viewing,
in conjunction with classes or individual interests. Audio materials may be
dubbed or burned.
We also are involved with the SCOLA international 24-hour/day access to news from around the world available at www.acs.nmu.edu/scola. We archive a half-hour program each week in Spanish, German, and French, as well as a different 'featured' language each week. These CD archives are available for student use, regardless of when the program is actually on.
Tutoring is available each semester. The Language Lab is housed at 203 Jamrich. Audio Resources in French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and English are available in the Language Lab.
