How to Transfer to NMU

International Transfer Process

Northern Michigan University reviews applications throughout the year. Review recommended deadlines HERE

To apply for an undergraduate degree at Northern Michigan University, you will need to submit the following information:

  1. Complete the International Student Admission Application
    1. At the end of the application you will need to submit your application. You will receive an e-mail stating that you submission has been successful. If you do not receive an e-mail, please contact ipo@nmu.edu and we will check on your application.
  2. Pay $35 application fee (must be in U.S. funds)
  3. Transcript Request
    1. US College/University Transcripts
      1. Request for your transcript to be sent to Northern Michigan University from the issuing institution. Transcripts must be in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution to be considered "official". 
    2. Non US and Non Canadian Transcripts - credential evaluation and transcript(s)
      1. NMU accepts evaluations from these three agencies (and others may be considered if part of NACES):

        1. Education Credential Evaluators (ECE)  This service allows applicants to submit their official educational documents only once--to ECE.  NMU would then receive the verified documents from ECE along with the credential evaluation.

        2. World Education Service (WES)  Students may elect to order the WES ICAP service.  This service allows applicants to submit their official educational documents only once--to WES. NMU would then receive the verified documents from WES along with the credential evaluation.

        3. North American Educational Group (NAEG)

  4. Proof of English language proficiency - Test Scores

  5. Provide Certification of Finances - $30,776 (Step-by-Step Instructions)
