Course(s) and eligibility: |
3 credits, HL/NU386. Meets upper division social science and world culture requirements. Meets requirement for 74 Superior Edge hours.
Pre-requisites: EN111, EN211 and sophomore status or permission of instructor. Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, good academic and disciplinary status at time of program travel.

Term and approximate travel dates: |
Winter 2013 semester - meets second seven weeks of the winter semester with travel in early May, 2013. Trip will take place prior to the start of summer session.

Admissions on a rolling basis; final deadline February 15, 2012. To apply, download FLSA application from International Programs website or pick up forms from IPO office in 145 Whitman.

Program Snapshot |
This two-week course combines diversity with service learning experiences in local health care and school settings in rural Honduras. Students will learn about the culture of Honduras with a particular focus on the health and health care of the people of Central America. Students stay in the El Cajon Dam residential area, a secured facility approximately 10 miles outside Santa Cruz de Yojoa. Program includes visits to beautiful waterfalls and Lake Yojoa, a tranquil beach area and Honduras' largest lake.

Estimated cost: |
International Program fee ranges from $900 to $1100 depending on final enrollment and is payable in 3 installments, with first payment due in early January, 2013. Fee includes housing, ground transportation, cultural excursions, NMU administrative fee, international health insurance, and all meals. Additional costs: International airfare, estimated at $750-$800, passport, and personal spending money.
