  1. Attend student teaching meeting through the Education department

 

  1. Schedule and appointment with Susan Morgan in the Office of International Programs - 227-2510

 

  1. Apply to program:

o        Get applications from Office of International Programs

o        Fill out U.S. Programmes Application Form

o        Fill out Student Teaching Pre-Registration Form

o        Official Transcript

o        One passport picture – print name on back

o        Turn all information Susan Morgan

 

  1. Criminal Background check:
    1. Cannot be more than 6 months old

 

  1. Complete your student teaching budget:

o        Get estimates on the following information

o        Airfare

o        Round trip travel to point of departure (# of miles)

o        Host country Visa – if needed

o        Personal Spending Allowance

o        Make appointment with Susan Morgan to approve budget

 

  1. Schedule appointment with Financial Aid 227-2327

 

  1. Invoice

o        If you receive your invoice it is your responsibility to get it to the International Affairs Office for processing.

o        Study abroad charge of $100

o        Pay your NMU account in full

o        See Carolyn Basal in the Student Service Center

o        Inform her that you are student teaching in England

o        A check will be mailed to Edge Hill (but not until your NMU account is paid in full)

 

 

 


Fees (2007-2008)

8 week programme:       $6250   (9 weeks meals & accommodation at Edge Hill)

 

The fee includes:

  • Airport pickup/return (Manchester International Airport)
  • Student teacher orientation
  • Student accommodation, usually is a single room
  • Flexible meal plan allowing up to 12 meals per week
  • The services of the Student Teaching Coordinator
  • All college learning and support services
  • School placement arrangement
  • Weekly supervision by Edge Hill appointed staff
  • Transportation to and from teaching assignment as appropriate
  • Meals and accommodation during the school’s mid-term break (as appropriate)

 

Not included in fees:

  • Airfare
  • Personal spending money
  • Any classroom materials you may wish to bring

 

It is normal practice in UK schools to have a one week mid-term break, which usually occurs during any teaching practice of 8 weeks or longer.

 

Cancellation Fee Policy

Students who withdraw from the Edge Hill College Student Teaching Programme are required to pay cancellation payments according to the following schedule:

 

Placement Costs:

Students who withdraw from the Student Teaching programme once a placement has been secured for them in a local school are required to pay a $250 cancellation payment. This payment will be invoiced to the US partner college at the same time as payments for student teachers participating in the programme.

 

Tuition Costs

1.       30 days or less before agreed arrival date: students will be liable for 25% of tuition costs due

2.       after arrival: 100% payable

 

Room, Board and Fees

1.       Prior to arrival – No charge

2.       After arrival

    1. Room and fees: Full semester cost
    2. Board: Pro-rata charge

 

Other

Any fees incurred by the student (library fines, disciplinary fines etc) will be due before departure and airport transportation will not be arranged until paid.
