EMPLOYEES APPOINTED BY THE UNIVERSITY TO SERVE ON OUTSIDE BOARDS, COUNCILS, COMMISSIONS, ETC.

PURPOSE

To establish guidelines for faculty and staff appointed to serve on an outside board, council, commission, etc., where such appointment is by the University.

APPLICABILITY

All Faculty and Staff.

POLICY

Occasionally, Northern Michigan University will be invited to submit the name of a faculty or staff member to serve as a representative of the University on a commission, council, or board, etc.  In such cases, the University, at its option, may provide for the faculty or staff member's expenses.  Such expenses may include defense and indemnification in accordance with the Northern Michigan University Indemnification Policy.  The faculty or staff member will not be charged with leave time.
