University-Owned Vehicles

PURPOSE

To establish policy pertaining to University-owned vehicles.

APPLICABILITY

All faculty and staff.

POLICY

VEHICLE ASSIGNMENT

A University-owned vehicle may be exclusively assigned to a University employee for official use where such assignment is in the best interest of the University.
Personal use of an exclusively assigned, University-owned vehicle will result in taxable income to the individual being reported to the appropriate governmental revenue agencies.

VEHICLE EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT IN LIEU OF MILEAGE

The University may provide full or partial reimbursement for vehicle use, in lieu of mileage, for individuals for whom the vehicle will permit to fulfill their responsibility in a more efficient manner than by the use of a vehicle owned by the University.

TERMINATION OF ASSIGNMENT OR REIMBURSEMENT

The University reserves the right to cancel its assignment of a vehicle or the reimbursement for payment for the vehicle expenses upon separation of the individual from University employment or upon a change in assignment as determined by the President of the University.
