Advertising

Where to advertise must be seriously considered by the Search Committee.  The purpose of advertising is to “cast a broad net” which results in highly-qualified applicants.  This purpose should be achieved through a cost-effective mix of advertising sources, and information which catches the eye and interest of potential employees.  Keep in mind that the ad sends a message to applicants about what it’s like to work at NMU, and that there’s only one chance to make a good first impression!   

Academic Positions:
Once ad language is prepared and finalized, Academic Affairs and the department will prepare to advertise the position.  The Provost’s office automatically advertises in the following:

Non-Academic Positions:

The department is responsible for advertising in all other sources.  Click here for a list of additional sources.  In addition to the advertisement listed above, positions are generally advertised in journals specific to the discipline, list servers, and professional organization websites.  

All ads should also direct applicants to apply online at https://EmployMe.nmu.edu.  Applications must be completed online for the person to be considered an applicant.
