What is an Injury Evaluation
and Care Clinic?
This clinic is a service to Northern
Michigan University full-time students, faculty, and staff. It’s primary
purpose is to provide the university community with a health care opportunity
that specializes in the evaluation and primary treatment of sport and physical
activity related injuries.
What we treat:
Sprains, strains, contusions ... just about anything that is musculoskeletal
in nature.
What we don’t treat:
Surgical complications, wounds, long-term rehabilitation, chronic disease and
illness.

Musculoskeletal injury evaluation

Primary injury treatment

Home exercise care plans

Information on physician care and physical therapy
services related to sport injury (effective for presenting to primary care
physician upon referral).

Athletic taping and bracing
ATC = Athletic Trainer,
Certified: Athletic trainers are unique health care
professionals who specialize in the prevention, care, and treatment of athletic
related injuries. They work in a multitude of settings including colleges and
universities, hospitals and clinics, high schools, industry, and professional
sports.
All
certified athletic trainers have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in athletic
training and about 75 percent possess
master’s degrees.
