West Hall

West Hall is best described by a previous resident as, “…a good experience. It is like one big happy family here. Since we all live close to each other, everyone pretty much knows their neighbor and looks out for one another”. West Hall is up-campus, located adjacent to the University Center, and residents commonly eat at the Wildcat Den. Residents in West come from varied backgrounds, but come together to form a close-knit community. West holds an annual formal for its residents, deciding a new theme each year, as a long standing tradition. West is a great place to live, because it offers convenient access to different buildings on campus and feels like home away from home. West is all co-ed and is building number 62 on the campus map.

Resident Director – Kimmie Conrad, 227-2821

Kimmie, the Resident Director of West Hall, is originally from Naperville, IL.  After attending the College of DuPage for two years, she transferred to NMU and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.  During her time as an undergraduate, Kimmie spent four semesters as a Resident Adviser in Spooner Hall and contributed to the Live.  Learn.  Lead team.  When she's not working, Kimmie enjoys off-beat foreign movies, going for walks, and playing strategy board games.

West Hall Traditions

History:

West Hall, opened in 1960, is named after Wilber D. West, the director of NMU’s Guidance and Counseling Center for a number of years and dean of students for a short time.

• West Hall is the only residence hall at NMU that has a view of Lake Superior.

• West Hall is located where NMU’s football stadium once stood.
