Summer Student Rates
Northern Michigan University will provide housing for single students and students attending without their family for all or part of the 12-week Summer College, which begins on Monday, May 19 and ends Saturday, August 9. Most Summer College student housing is provided in Spooner Hall, a residence hall with both furnished single rooms and furnished two-person efficiency apartments for a maximum of 105 students. Housing is provided in University apartments for students whose housing needs cannot be accommodated in Spooner Hall. In addition to year-round on-campus apartment housing, Northern Michigan University provides short-term housing for residence hall and students wishing to take advantage of Summer Session programs, Summer Institute course offerings, and the beautiful weather of the area during the summer months. Most short-term housing is provided in Spooner Hall, where students can choose either a one person room or an efficiency apartment.
Spooner Hall Front Desk Hours
Students who are staying in Spooner Hall for Summer College need to check in and pick up their key at the Spooner Hall Front Desk. The hours are:
- Monday - Friday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., 6-8 p.m.
- Saturday - Sunday Noon-3 p.m., 6-8 p.m.
If you plan to arrive on campus when the desk is not open, you need to make arrangements by calling the desk 24 hours before arrival.
Summer Meal Plans
Dining Services provides services for students in two different locations during Summer College session - the Wildcat Den Food Court, a full-service food court in the University Center, and Starbucks Coffee, a coffee shop located in the Learning Resource Center and Temaki and Tea/Smoothie King, a full-service restaurant located on Presque Isle Ave near the Superior Dome. Summer College housing rates do not include meals; however, students have a choice of three different all you care to eat meal plans.
- 75 Visit Plan: $525.00 (or $7.00 per meal)
- 50 Visit Plan: $365.00 (or $7.30 per meal)
- 25 Visit Plan: $195.00 (or $7.80 per meal)
