Internships

Students MeetingA number of academic departments either require or recommend credit-granting internships prior to college graduation.  The Health Promotion Office  works with a significant number of intelligent, caring and creative students from the nursing program’s community nursing class and the School of Health and Human Performance. We are always open to providing appropriate, meaningful learning opportunities for students in almost any academic department.  In addition to those departments listed above, students enrolled in social work, education, public relations or graphic arts could benefit from exploring internship opportunities with HPO.

In the past, student interns have developed a variety of campus-wide awareness campaigns, coordinated the promotion and delivery of grant-funded services to Marquette area schools, researched and designed posters promoting local non-profit service organizations, created a variety of quiz bowl programs, initiated safer choice promotions at local bars, assisted with youth conferences and campus health fairs and facilitated a variety of departmental presentations with their peers.  Students should contact the Health Promotion Office at 906-227-1455 or hpo@nmu.edu to discuss internship suggestions.
