Seize the Day with RA!
Did You Know?
In 1859, Dr. Alfred Baring Garrod coined the term "rheumatoid arthritis." Previous names for this disease had been "chronic rheumatism" and "rheumatic gout."
1. Treat Consistently
While traditional DMARDs and biologic medications can slow the progression of rheumatoid arthritis, and sometimes cause remission, they can’t cure the disease. Even if you feel much better, you’ll need to stay on your medications. Going off DMARDs and biologics increases your risk of flares and, if you go untreated long enough, complications such as additional joint damage, heart disease and disability could develop.
