Assistant Provost's Message

The pursuit of graduate education is an exciting and life changing experience. It provides students with an opportunity to explore areas of interest through research and interaction with highly qualified faculty. Graduate education challenges students to think differently and develop both intellectually and professionally. 

Northern Michigan University is dedicated to providing graduate students a wide range of experiences; including conducting original research, teaching, and practical internships. The university also provides a number of graduate assistantships through a competitive application process. 

In addition to our full-time programs, we offer 12-16 credit graduate certificates that are designed for students who seek to upgrade their skills and talents without pursuing a full degree-program. Some programs offer classes online, through interactive conferencing, and/or hybrid classes that combine the traditional classroom experience and online learning tools to create flexibility for busy professionals.
