Biology
   -Letter of application describing your background, research interests and career goals
   -Memorandum from Biology Department faculty member indicating their willingness to serve as your graduate thesis advisor and your potential for success in the graduate program
   -GRE test scores
Recommendation letters should be mailed or e-mailed directly from the recommender.

   DEADLINES: 
     -Fall (August) semester - completed applications will be considered between March 1st and May 1st of the same year
     -Winter (January) semester - completed applications will be considered between September 15th and December 1st of the year prior
Integrated Biosciences
   -Letter of application describing your background, research interests and career goals

Business Administration (Master of Business Administration-MBA)  (On campus with evening courses)
   -Letter of Intent – Statement of intent outlining the reason that you are pursuing an MBA at NMU and what unique perspective, qualifications, experiences and educational assets you would bring to share with your class. Also include your goals and how the program will help you move closer to them.

  -GMAT test scores (waived for students with a terminal degree) - NOTE: If your GMAT scores do not meet MBA requirements when evaluated with your undergraduate GPA (typically a GMAT score of 500 or higher is expected), you may be granted conditional admission until the GMAT is retaken and an acceptable score is received. For further inquiries and exceptions about the GMAT requirements, contact the College of Business.
Certification and Professional/Personal Development Programs for Educators
  -Non-degree status 
  -Transcripts are required for certification/endorsement programs
Clinical Molecular Genetics - Fall semester start only (Online with a one-week lab experience at NMU)
  -Essay – Statement of intent that includes labs skills and experiences along with reason for pursuing this degree.
  -3 letters of recommendation (from instructors or professional references). Recommendation letters should be mailed or e-mailed directly from the recommender.

   -Must have or be eligible for K-12 teaching license

English - Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing
The following five required documents can be uploaded at the end of your online application. If you do not submit them at the time of your application, please e-mail them to english@nmu.edu.  
  1. Department application (see the link above for this form and application procedures)
  2. Statement of purpose addressing your interest in the program, ability to succeed and teaching experience
  3. Resume or curriculum vitae
  4. Critical essay/paper (10-20 pages)
  5. Writing sample (10 pages of poetry or 20-30 pages of fiction or creative writing)
  6. 3 (or more) recommendation letters addressing your promise as a writer and your ability as a potential teacher.

English - Master of Arts

- Applicants must possess: a). a bachelor's degree in English, or  b). a minimum of 30 credit hours in undergraduate English courses, or equivalents, demonstrating broad familiarity with literature in English, with a minimum GPA in these courses of 3.0.  Transcripts of applicants will be evaluated on an individual basis.
