Independent research under the supervision of a member of the department. Supervisor and research project must be selected prior to enrollment in this course. Normally a thesis follows the completion of the research project (students enroll in BI 599 Thesis in Biology). A grade of R will be awarded in BI 589 until the BI 599 course is satisfactorily completed.
