Cathy Dehlin is the general counsel and equal opportunity officer at Northern Michigan University. She also serves as the university’s Title IX coordinator.

As general counsel since July 2006, she represents the university through its Board of Trustees and president. She began working at NMU in the Equal Opportunity Office in October 2005.

Before coming to Northern, Cathy practiced employment law in the Phoenix, Ariz., office of Quarles & Brady (1999-2005) and civil litigation at Hogan & Hartson in Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia (1990-1999). After receiving her juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center, she clerked on the D.C. Court of Appeals.

Cathy grew up in Rochester, Mich. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan.

She is currently licensed to practice law in Michigan and the District of Columbia.
