Research in the Sociology Department

Dr. AlexRuuska & Brianna MillerThe focus of research for Brianna is working on a Web site for Pictured Rocks that specializes in tracing the Anishinaabeg Migration Route. She also documents a study on Trail Trees, which are culturally modified by scarring, and records the process of tying them to mark different characteristics. Brianna is the official photographer of her mentor's fieldwork and works to document the various aspects of their research.

Brianna finds the work a lot of fun and really enjoys working with everyone involved in the research project. She has been influenced by the research project, and as a result, has declared an Anthropology minor.

In the future, Brianna would like to work as a photographer for National Geographic or become involved in editorial photography. She will hopefully incorporate her Anthropology minor into National Geographic work.
