Martha & David Haynes Mexican Studies Scholarship

Established by David and Martha Haynes to provide scholarship support to expose NMU students to the people and culture of Mexico, America's closest and largest neighbor, government and society with whom we share 2000 miles of border, history and our Hispanic roots. It is the Donors' belief that providing experiences such as this for NMU students will ultimately improve and enhance our relationship with Mexico.

Additional Requirements
Applicants must have completed one semester of Spanish language or Latin American Studies. Applicants must participate in a study abroad program recognized and approved by NMU that may include taking coursework abroad, student teaching or pursuing an internship. This scholarship is NOT intended to support opportunities for intensive language study. In the spirit of the Donors' intent, the student(s) receiving this award are expected to share their Mexican experience and enthusiasm for study abroad with other NMU students.
