Summary:

Nathan has just been promoted to his dream job; Editor-in-Chief of the Willow Falls Beacon Telegraph.  He soon learns that the newspaper is in financial trouble.His predecessor hires Ben, a young blogger with a lack of reverence for the newspaper industry. Nathan holds Ben in contempt though he asks him to write for the newspaper’s website. As the newspaper’s financial picture worsens, Nathan is faced with saving his beloved newspaper and winning the heart of his newly widowed former flame.  Before it’s over, Ben will help Nathan through a painful lesson about waiting for impossible dreams and depending on false promises.

About the Show:

Wichita Community Theater chose A Paper Tiger in the Rain for a staged reading on March 17, 2013. A Paper Tiger in the Rain is also a semi-finalist for the Playwrights First Award at the National Art Club in New York City.

 

About the Playwright:

David J. Swanson is a playwright having written the award winning play A Paper Tiger in the Rain.  He is also the author of the novel The Julian Ark: A Madison Dawn Adventure and Theatre for Church: Vol 1, a collection of short sketches.  He is a Featured Author for skitguys.com and freelances for babynamegenie.com.  Having found his love for theater while in college, he began writing several years later and transitioned from actor to writer and director.  In his free time he also is an avid guitar player, private pilot, and maker of short films.  In 2010 he produced Mission to Ethiopia: Tikempt Ishet, a documentary about his sister’s time in down country Ethiopia.
