You have four great options!

  • Option One: Link your tax return information using the Data Retrieval Tool found in the "Income Information" sections of the FAFSA. *Must wait about two weeks after you have filed electronically, longer if you file by paper. (PDF)
     
    • Log onto the student's FAFSA.
    • Go to the "Income Information" section.
    • If parent(s) can answer "no" to the questions about their tax return, choose "Link to IRS".
    • Follow the directions given. *HINT: Input your address EXACTLY as it appears on your income tax return.
    • Do not change any of the transferred information.
    • Repeat the steps for the "Student's Income Information" section, if the student filed a return.
    • When done, go to the last section to "Sign and Submit" the updates you have just made.
       
  • Option Two: Print a copy of your Income Tax Return Transcript directly from www.irs.gov. (PDF)
    • Under "Tools", choose "Get Transcript of your Tax Records".
    • Choose "Get Transcript ONLINE", say "OK" to the warning message.
    • Sign Up to create your account; then choose "Send Email Confirmation Code".
    • Check your e-mail for the code; enter the code in the new box.
    • Enter requested information.
    • Answer the credit questions, which identify you and prevent from accessing your tax records.
    • On the page "Get Transcript", choose "Higher Education" and tax year under "Return Transcript".
    • If no download occurs, you may need to use a different web browser.
    • Print a copy to submit to our office. NOTE: Be sure your student's Identification Number is on each page.
       
  • Option Three: Request your transcripts be mailed to your home address.
    • Go to www.IRS.gov/transcript and click on the “Get Transcript by Mail” link.
    • Enter requested information.
    • Enter tax year.
    • Choose "Return Transcript".
    • Once you receive the transcript in the mail make a copy to submit to our office. NOTE: Be sure your student's Identification Number is on each page.
       
  • Option Four: Request your transcripts by phone.  They will be mailed to you.
    • Call 1-800-908-9946.
    • Provide the requested information.
    • Request "Tax Return Transcript".
    • Once you receive the transcript in the mail make a copy to submit to our office. NOTE: Be sure your student's Identification Number is on each page.
