| Making a Difference Award (Effective Fall 2013) |
New freshmen admitted in good standing to a baccalaureate level program and not eligible for these NMU awards: Harden, Waldo, Kay, Munson, Leadership, Freshman Fellowship, Recognition, Outstanding Achievement, Scholars, Merit, Merit Excellence. Must have a minimum of 2 years of service in a leadership position(s) to which they were elected, appointed or selected to serve. |

Scholarships designated for "new freshmen" pertain to students who have not attended any college/post-secondary institution after high school graduation. High school grade point averages are recalculated in academic core courses and computed on a 4.0 scale. Grades from courses designated as "honors" or "Advanced Placement" or "IB" on the transcript are weighted one grade level higher in the recalculation. Scholarships listed here are for eligible U.S. citizens/permanent residents only.
Re-entry Scholarship
Re-entry students may have their original NMU scholarship reinstated if they:
- were eligible for renewal at the time they left NMU.
- have not attended another college or university between enrollments at NMU.
- are within the "consecutive semesters" timeline that began with the original awarding date of said scholarship. Semesters away from NMU do count in the consecutive semesters timeline.
