Introduction

The 'baby boom' peak in the late 1950's gave rise to the 'baby boom echo' which peaked in the late 1980's.  The children born at the peak of the echo have progressed through the K12 system and brought record numbers of graduates in 2008.  We are now on the  backside of this wave, and current trends in school enrollments permit projections of future graduation classes.

We distinguish between a projection and a forecast.  A projection extrapolates current trends on the assumption they will remain unchanged in the future.  In this projection we assume the survival rates from grade to grade will be stable through 2015.

The tables below portray these projections first for the whole State and then one by one for each of six recruiting regions.
