NMU Electronics Lab Hosts Boy Scouts

Several area Boy Scouts learned about electronics and earned their Electronics Merit Badge during an annual Merit Badge Activity Day held in the Jacobetti Complex on NMU's campus. The Scouts worked in the Electronics Lab at NMU learning electronics skills and built a number of fun electronics projects. Two current NMU Electronics students, Line Momeni and Joey Morrow, helped Professor Jack Gumaer with the session.

The Scouts learned how to solder and built their own light flasher on a circuit board. They also experimented with an electronic siren and other circuits built on solderless protoboards. Part of the session involved learning about electronic components and using basic electronic lab test equipment such as a digital multimeter, function generator, frequency counter, and oscilloscope.
