Construction started on new CHP Plant
As part of a campus energy optimization project, a new biomass fueled cogeneration combined heating and power (CHP) plant is under construction as an addition to the existing plant. The new unit will burn wood chips and wood by-products of the Upper Peninsula. Project Details.

Demolition of Carey Hall

Hunt - Van Antwerp Lobby.

The Campus Master Plan identified Carey Hall as a candidate for demolition in 2008. Demolition and site work is expected to take place during the summer of 2012. Project Details.

Door Access Security Project

This project consists of the replacement of the existing Door Access Security system. There are 19 buildings included in the project which includes hard-wired and wireless card readers. The features in the new system will enable remote locking and unlocking of buildings as well as improving campus security during an emergency. The new system being installed will be provided by CBORD.

Berry Events Center Lighting Replacement
As a piece of the Performance Contract Phase II project, the Berry Events Center rink lighting is being replaced. The existing 400W Metal Halide fixtures are being replaced with 144 new energy efficient T5 fluorescent fixtures. Replacement will begin on May 7th and be completed by June 8th.

LRC Roof Replacement and Exterior Restoration Project
LRC EPDM roof, originally installed in 1970, is to be completely replaced. The exterior restoration of the building to be included in the project. Project Details.

University Center Space Programming
Renovation of the University Center is in design to create a center for Allied Health combining Nursing, Clinical Sciences, Athletic Training, NMU Health Center, Health Promotions, and Counseling Center into one location. Project Details.
