Dr. Sandra Imdieke has recently accepted an appointment from the ALSC (Association for Library Service to Children) as a Chair of the 2009 Mildred L. Batchelder Award Committee. This appointment is for a 2-year term. This term begins immediately and ends with the close of the 2009 Annual Conference in Chicago, IL
The function statement of this committee is:
To select from the books published the preceding year the most outstanding book originally published in a foreign language in a foreign country and subsequently published in English in the United States.
To serve on an ALSC committee, you must be a member of the Association for Library Service to Children, as well as a member of ALA. With this committee assignment she can play an important role in continuing ALSC’s fine record for programs and activities that lead to the improvement of library services and materials for children.
Dr. Imdieke also served on the committee for the Newbery Award from January 2006 to January 2007.
