School of Education, Leadership and Public Service Director, Dr. Rodney Clarken, recently attended the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education State Leaders Institute as the representative from Michigan. He consulted with other teacher education leaders from across the United States on issues affecting schools and colleges of education and federal policies. He also met with members of Congress in Washington D.C. One of the primary purposes of Dr. Clarken’s visit was to help develop and strengthen relationships with members of Congress and their staffs. These hill meetings are important opportunities to talk with Congressional delegations about NMU teacher preparation programs and about how federal policy and funding can be strengthened to support them.
