Student Teaching Pre-Application

Go to http://mynmu.nmu.edu, login using your user name and password (those you use for opening your NMU e-mail).  Open the "Education" tab to complete the online pre-application.

This should be completed two semesters before you plan to student teach.

Student Teaching Application

Go to http://mynmu.nmu.edu, login using your user name and password (those you use for opening your NMU e-mail).  Open the "Education" tab to complete the online application.

This must be completed by the second Sunday of the semester before you student teach.

Student teachers requesting to student teach out of the Upper Peninsula but within the United States will need to submit the following to the Field Experiences Office in addition to their application:

1.  A letter of intent explaining how this placement will benefit you as a professional and how you will use this experience to benefit your students.  Please do an introductory paragraph explaining who you are, your major/minor areas of study and the semester you have targeted for student teaching.

2.  Statements of support from two faculty who would support your request.

Student teachers requesting to student teach overseas will need to do the following in addition to their application:

1.  Two semesters prior to submitting your student teaching application, contact the Coordinator of Education Abroad and Exchange Programs in the Office of International Programs at 227-2530 to discuss placement options and responsibilities.

2.  Submit a letter of intent explaining how this placement will benefit you as a professional and how you will use this experience to benefit your students.  Please do an introductory paragraph explaining who you are, your major/minor areas of study and the semester you have targeted for student teaching.

3.  Request two formal letters of recommendation from faculty who can speak to your skills as a pre-service teacher.

Student teaching placements are done by request with individual schools and school districts.  NMU cannot guarantee any placement request in a specific geographic area.
