NMU is extending an offer of free use of a laptop to K-12 teachers from Michigan who are enrolled in Summer Session II graduate-level Education courses at NMU.
This is a pilot program supporting NMU’s effort to encourage teachers to continue their professional education at NMU. It is also part of an effort to strengthen the bonds between K-12 education in Michigan and Northern Michigan University.
Note: Free use of notebook computer does not apply to the Summer Institute for Educational Leadership or Action in Education Summer Institute
Laptops are rented from the Lydia M. Olson Library circulation desk.
Students must show:
Notebook computers will be issued one business day prior to the start of class.
If there is a need to have the laptop shipped, please request in advance. Computers will be shipped to arrive one day before class (NMU is not responsible for shipping delays beyond our control). A $25 shipping fee will be charged to the student’s NMU account.
Notebook computers must be returned in person to the Library within one business day after the end of class. A $15.00 per day late fee accrues for laptops not returned by the due date.
Shipped notebook computers should be postmarked within one business day after the class ends. Shipping and handling fees are the responsibility of the student. Insurance on the shipped notebook is strongly encouraged.
Notebook computers issued for this promotion are subject to the same use conditions and terms as other NMU-issued notebook computers.
This offer is subject to availability of notebook computers in the NMU laptop computer inventory. Every effort will be made to provide eligible students with notebook computers. A waiting list will be maintained in the event that a student cannot pick up a laptop due to low inventory.
