Regional Police Academy
May 6 - August 22, 2007
The Regional Police Academy is a 16-week, 800-hour police training school designed to provide basic law enforcement training to in-service and pre-service recruits. At the successful completion of academy training, a recruit becomes certifiable as a police officer through the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). This training is transferable to most other states.

The 2007 Educational Leadership Institute is designed to bring current and future school administrators together to discuss educational issues in school administration and leadership. School administrators and teachers who are interested in becoming administrators are encouraged to attend.

"Educators Working Together for Accountability”

Each day features dynamic keynote speakers in a large group format for all Institute participants in cooperation with the "Educational Leadership Institute I & II” for administrators and aspiring administrators. Keynote speakers are as follows:
- Monday – Eric Szatkowski, Special Agent for Wisconsin Dept. of Justice
- "Internet Predators: What you need to know as an educator”
- Tuesday – Dave Opalewski, Grief Recovery- Saginaw, Michigan
- "Addressing Teen Suicide & Crisis Response in our Schools”
- Wednesday – Kathleen Kyrza, Infinite Horizons- Ann Arbor, Michigan
- "Inspiring ALL Learners: Awakening the Desire to Learn”
- Thursday – Lisa Swem, Attorney- Thrun & Associates
- "School Safety Issues for Educators”
Registration and refreshments will begin at 7:30 am each day outside of Jamrich Hall Lecture Room 102. Keynotes will begin promptly by 8:15 am. After the daily keynote, AIE participants will proceed to their individual classes in Jamrich Hall for the rest of the day and Ed Leadership participants will proceed to the MEAD auditorium of Seaborg Science Center.
AIE Institute participants may select from a number of classes that run for all 4 days (2 credits), classes that run 2 days (1 credit) and classes that run for just 1 day (.5 credit).
