2014 Retail Industry Leaders Association

The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) is a national professional organization for executives of loss prevention. Every year at the national conference college students are invited to attend and participate. All student expenses are paid for. This year the conference is in Indianapolis, Indiana in early April 2014.

Two years ago four NMU students attended this program where nearly 2000 loss prevention professionals, most of whom had hiring authority, met in Dallas, Texas. Two of them were hired before their May graduation. Two were hired within a month of graduation. Three of these students, were Criminal Justice majors and one was a Loss Prevention Management major. Two of the Criminal Justice majors had taken Loss Prevention Management courses, but this is not a requirement.

NMU has the only loss prevention degree program in the United States and the high quality of our previous attendees means that our students have an advantage when they apply.
