Jeff Mincheff began teaching in the Criminal Justice Department in 2001. He instructs in a variety of areas with specialty training in law enforcement ethics and cultural diversity. Mr. Mincheff serves as the assistant director of police services for Northern Michigan University's Public Safety and Police Services Department (1997 - present). He is an instructor for in-service law enforcement courses provided around the Upper Peninsula in topics such as ethics, precision driving, radar operation and cultural diversity. He also teaches in NMU's Regional Police Academy where he received the Outstanding Instructor Award in 2001 and in 2004. Prior to his service at NMU, he served as a deputy sheriff from 1979-81 in Ontonagon County and as an officer and detective with the Houghton City Police Department from 1981-91. Jeff obtained both his bachelor and master degrees in criminal justice from NMU. He is also a 2004 graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.
