Egyptian Professor Discusses the Arts at NMU

MARQUETTE, Mich.—Osama Medany, a professor of English at Egypt’s Minoufiya University, will discuss the role of the arts in the Arab Spring and the 2011 Egyptian uprising during a talk at Northern Michigan University. The talk will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, in the Huron Room of the University Center. It is free and open to the public.

Medany has published extensively on Arab and Arab-American literature and is a professional translator at the Egyptian National Translation Center.

This presentation is part of the “Art and Revolution in the Middle East and North Africa” mini-lecture series at NMU. The series is sponsored by NMU’s Black Student Union, College of Arts and Sciences and the departments of history, English and modern languages and literatures.
