MARQUETTE, Mich .— A candidate for assistant professor of psychology at Northern Michigan University will present his research at 3:10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, in Room 301 of Gries Hall. The presentation, “A Reductionist Approach to Memory: Use of the Zebrafish Mauthner Neurocircuit To Identify And Understand  Memory Traces,” will be given by Adam Roberts from University of California, Los Angeles.

            Roberts will illustrate how he has investigated learning and memory in simple vertebrate systems and discuss how he’s demonstrated long-term habituation of the escape response and significant progress toward understanding the molecular basis of this memory.
