NMU Communications and Marketing
The Communications and Marketing Office oversees Northern Michigan University's internal and external communication efforts. The department's areas of primary responsibility include on-campus communications, media relations, community relations, university-related publications and the NMU Web site.
Information provided to the Communications and Marketing Office may be used in a number of ways: press releases; a note in the NMU Parent Partnership, NMU Community Connection, or What's New @ NMU (alumni) or CAMPUS (faculty-staff) newsletters; and/or as a feature story for student hometown newspapers or in Northern Horizons Magazine (alumni).
Per university policy, Communications and Marketing is the only department authorized to write and distribute press releases on behalf of the university. In addition to press releases, the staff also assists the campus community in developing communication and publicity strategies to promote events, news items, university-related accomplishments and student success. Staff members also serve faculty, students and staff as project managers for publications, Web sites, and event publicity campaigns.
The Communications and Marketing Office is part of the President's Division.
