NMU Commencement

Congratulations to the graduating class. The December 2017 graduation ceremony took place on Saturday, December 16 at 10:30 a.m. in the Superior Dome. Rehearsal took place the day before at 2:15 p.m. in the Dome.

Live Stream

You were able to view the live stream on-line free of charge at NMU Commencement.  Friends and family in the U.P. also had the option to view the ceremony live on WNMU-TV Public TV 13. 

Speech-to-text service for the commencement ceremony is accessible live via smartphone or tablet at NMU Commencement Speech-to-Text.

Video on-demand will be available after the ceremony on NMU December 2017 Commencement

Commencement Speakers

Every commencement features a distinguished guest speaker as well as a graduating student speaker. The December 2017 distinguished guest speaker was Dr. David Wood, and the student speaker was Erin McNabb.  As speakers were known, they were posted in these places and in a press release. See transcripts of previous distinguished guest speakers and previous graduating student speakers remarks. 

Dr. David Wood was the December 2017 Distinguished Faculty Commencement speaker and Erin McNabb was the Student Speaker.Stay ahead of curve and follow the <a href="/commencement/ceremonychecklist">graduation checklist</a> to make sure that you have everything necessary to enjoy your day with friends and family. Purchase your academic regalia at the NMU Bookstore, located in the University Center. Friends and family of graduates should look for lodging in Marquette before graduation weekend to ensure a place to stay in the area. It’s never too early.
