Northern Michigan University – Classroom Support Student Technician Position Description [Level 1]

Position Title: Classroom Support Student Technician

Unit: Instructional Design and Technology

Basic Function: To enhance teaching and learning by assisting faculty and students with the setup and use of classroom technologies

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

• Setup and assist with delivered instructional equipment and material in NMU instructional spaces
• Provide assistance with installed instructional equipment in instructional spaces
• Process and schedule faculty requests for classroom support services and delegate tasks to peers
• Perform maintenance and inventory activities
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Supervision Received: Position reports to Classroom Support Supervisors

Supervision Exercised: None

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled as a full-time student for the semester applying for
• Some experience with audiovisual technologies and willingness to learn to operate new technologies
• Strong communication skills and telephone etiquette
• Must be a licensed driver
• Minimum GPA 2.0

Work Schedule: Classroom Support service hours are Monday – Thursday 7:30am-10pm, Friday 7:30am-5pm, and Saturday 9am to 4pm. Scheduling is determined by Classroom Support needs and student employee availability.

Pay Range: $8.50 - $8.75
