Online Resume System

Keyword Search Information

The Online Resume System at Northern Michigan University can function using keywords so long as users of the system load the keywords into their user profile.  Simply uploading your resume into the system is not enough.  You must also copy the words from your resume into a special field on the registration form when you sign-up to use the system.

Once you have saved your resume as a PDF file, open the file and:

  1. Click "Edit"
  2. Click "Select All"
  3. Right-click and choose "Copy" from the drop-down menu.
  4. Put your cursor in the Keyword Search box on the Registration Form.
  5. Right-click and choose "Paste" from the menu.

Do not worry how your text appears as employers will never see the text.  The Online system hides this text from employers, but uses it when employers do keyword searches.
