Learn to create an effective resume that will get you noticed in today's job market. This workshop will cover resume writing techniques and you'll also learn how to avoid some common resume missteps. Find out the best ways to start making your resume work harder for you! Then learn about what makes an effective cover letter to go with it. Be prepared to work on your existing resume, or create a new one from scratch – make sure you bring your laptop!

Finding a career mentor can help you develop clarity on your career development. Finding a mentor can be difficult, but we’ll talk about how to develop relationships, and who might be good to consider. We’ll also talk about what a good mentor-mentee relationship looks like, and what you should expect from your mentor.

Learn how to get the most out of job fairs by attending this workshop. Find out what to expect from an event and learn how best to prepare. We'll also cover what you should do and expect on the day of the job fair, as well as how to follow up.

If you’re close to graduating, and you haven’t really thought about what you’re going to do afterwards, this workshop is for you! Do you know about LinkedIn? This professional social network is used by 90% of recruiters to find new hires – will they find you? Participants will learn about what makes an effective LinkedIn profile and leave with an account and profile. Those with a previously created account are welcome to attend to find out how to maximize it. Please come with your laptop – if you have a resume, it can be helpful to bring that as well.

Many people are turned away by the term “networking” – are you one of them? You shouldn’t be! Attend this workshop to find out more about what networking really is (hint – you’re doing it all the time already…), why it’s such an important tool, and how you can build up your network to find career guidance, internship opportunities, and yes, even a job.

So you have a LinkedIn account…but do you know what to do with it? Come to this workshop and get some great information about how to start building your network, and find out what you can do with it. 90% of recruiters are using LinkedIn to source their new hires… do you know how to get your information to them? Participants should have already created an account (but did not need to attend LinkedIn 101). Bring your laptop!
