William Tireman (Physics) published "Measurement of double-polarization asymmetries in the quasielastic 3He→(e⃗ ,e′d) process" in the Physical Review Letters journal of the American Physical Society. This publication is the result of an experiment performed by Tireman in collaboration with the Jefferson National Laboratory Hall A Collaboration. The experiment probed the electromagnetic structure of the three body Helium-3 nucleus and compared it against state-of-the-art numerical calculations. The result was sufficiently accurate enough to indicate that further refinement in the theoretical calculations is necessary. The data for this experiment was collected in 2009 by the Hall A Collaboration and involved Tireman and former NMU student Bradley Schoenrock, who is now in a doctorate program at MSU. The research was supported in part by a NMU faculty research grant. The publication is listed here.
