Parking Impacted by New Jamrich Hall Construction

The New Jamrich Hall project is scheduled to begin the week of March 25. A portion of parking lot 28 between C.B. Hedgcock and the Learning Resources Center will be closed for university use. Site-preparation activities will close about half of the lot, as crews install construction fencing and deliver job trailers and heavy equipment. During the second week of the project, excavators will begin preparing the site for underground utilities.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to use the following alternate lots near the buildings:

▪Hedgcock: Lots 25 (west end of McClintock), 29 (the new lot developed south of Jamrich), 62 (south of Hedgcock) and Seventh Street

▪Harden: Lot 11 (north of Harden Hall extending to Magers Hall)

▪Additional faculty/staff parking: Lot 21 (behind Art and Design, accessible by Center Street)

These options, along with handicap parking availability are pictured on this map. Approximately half of lot 28 will remain open through the end of the semester, but the entrance will eventually close and the entire lot will be fenced off in May as the project progresses.

“Because of the size and complexity of this project, and to ensure the new facility is complete for the fall 2014 semester, is it essential for us to begin construction as early as possible.” said Jim Thams (Engineering and Planning). “Concrete work on the footings and foundation walls will start as early as April.”

More details and progress reports will be made available in future issues of CAMPUS.
