Marketing Initiatives Highlight 13 Programs

Northern has launched mini-marketing initiatives targeting 13 academic programs determined to have the most potential to increase enrollment for fall 2015. The effort will include program brochures, mailers, web marketing, traditional advertising and possibly event marketing.

“Eight of the programs were preselected because they’re new; they were approved by the NMU Board of Trustees for implementation this fall,” said Derek Hall (Identity, Brand and Marketing). “The others were identified after Steve Neiheisel (Enrollment Management and Student Services) put out a call and worked with academic deans and the provost to select a handful that warranted a targeted effort in advance of fall 2015. This is a short-term enrollment plan. We will begin a new process in the winter semester directed at fall 2016 because it’s normal to plan farther in advance and involve everyone across campus. Our office is in the process of hiring a marketing coordinator to assist with these efforts.”
