Hall Leads Identity, Brand and Marketing

NMU this week launched the brand video and website landing page that serves as the university’s introduction to prospective fall 2015 students and their parents. On a related note, Derek Hall has been appointed assistant vice president for Identity, Brand and Marketing. The newly named Identity, Brand and Marketing office combines and expands upon the former communications and marketing functions. It reports to Vice President Steve Neiheisel (Enrollment Management and Student Services).

“Derek will formulate new communication initiatives to increase brand and mission awareness, lead a team in the strategic development and execution of internal/external communications and play a key role in supporting expanded and targeted recruitment efforts and in increasing the university’s visibility among key constituencies,” said Neiheisel.

Hall most recently served as vice president for university relations and external affairs at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Fla. Other administrative positions he held at the school included oversight of student life, enrollment and marketing/communications. He previously worked at Utah Valley University as associate vice president of college marketing and communications and as assistant director of college relations. Hall holds an educational doctorate in education leadership and policy from the University of Utah and a master’s in mass communications theory and bachelor’s in public relations from Brigham Young University.
