ScholarshipNow Has Immediate Impact on Students

The new ScholarshipNow program approved by the NMU Foundation Board of Trustees allows donors to make a one-time or annual gift of $1,000 to eligible students. Gifts received by Dec. 31 will be advertised to students during the winter scholarship application period and be awarded the following academic year.

“This gives donors an opportunity to make an immediate impact on a student’s education,” said Robyn Stille (Foundation). “Instead of waiting for interest to accrue, these cash-on-hand scholarships can be awarded right away. It is a nice amount for students—$500 per semester. It’s also an accessible amount for many donors. NMU faculty and staff can use payroll deduction to make it even more manageable.

"ScholarshipNow donors will be invited to the annual scholarship breakfast and have the chance to meet students impacted by their gifts. They will also be recognized as President's Club members."

With broad criteria, many students will be eligible. They must be enrolled in a program chosen by the donor from one of the following areas: the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Professional Studies or Business; Graduate Education and Research; and International Programs. Students must attend full time and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. Financial need is preferred, but not required.
