Matt Smock (AIS-Instructional Design and Technology) and Alec Lindsay (Biology) presented “Catalyzing Active Learning: A Recipe for Overcoming Barriers to Transforming Courses” at the Sloan-C/MERLOT Emerging Technologies for Online Learning symposium in Las Vegas. The presentation provided an overview of NMU’s Active Learning Catalysts project framework (see more information in Achievements), shared Lindsay’s experiences teaching his introductory biology principles course in the active learning classroom and showed data from the project’s first three semesters. 

 

Grace Chaillier (Center for Native American Studies) presented "Indigenous Fluency: Articulating Production of an American Indian Anthology” at the Native American Literature Symposium (NALS) held at the Mystic Lake Casino Resort Hotel in Prior Lake, Minn.

Jaspal Singh (English) gave the following presentations: “Critical Thinking and Writing in Higher Education” at the University of Central Asia, Tajikistan; “Interfaith Understanding and the Role of Media as Represented in Sikh Literature” at Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar, Punjab; and “Postcolonial Literature and Criticism” at Baring Union Christian College in Batala, Punjab.
