Jaspal Singh (English) has presented five conference papers while spending the academic year in India fulfilling her Fulbright Teaching and Research Award. She has taught a graduate course at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi while she works on a manuscript for her book titled Imagining Nations and Homelands in Indian Literature: Gender and Sikh Identity in India and the Diaspora.
Her presentations include: “Postcolonial Feminism and Critical Thinking/Writing,” Maldives University, Maldives; “Gender Identity and Representation of Sikhs in Indian Literature: Erasures of Empowering Female Roles,” South and Central Asia Fulbright National Conference, Kochi, Kerala; “Postcolonial Female Writers and Postcolonial Criticism,” plenary session, Postcolonial Theory and Literature: Issues and Challenges Conference, Northern Maharashtra University, Jalgoan; “Trauma and Memory in Sikh Literature,” plenary session, Sikh Studies Conference, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjab; and “South Asian Poetry and Modernism,” keynote speaker, American Poetry and Modernism Conference, Kolkata.
