This special exhibition, inspired by Michael Rea's sculptures, features two- dimensional work from the collection that often propels us into other worlds and dimensions. The departure point for the exhibition is Michael Rea's, A Prosthetic Suit For Stephen Hawking With Japanese Steel, a wooden mecha-suit designed to give the famous physicist a physical presence that matches his brilliant mind. Noting that many science fiction writers continue to be inspired by Hawking's theories, the exhibition also features selections from the museum's Secord Collection of 20th Century Illustration, including science fiction book covers from the 1960s.
